Favorite Products – February 2017

With the harsh winter weather and since I’ve been wearing makeup more frequently, my face has been drying out and breaking out. I have combination skin so it’s difficult to treat dryness and breakouts at the same time. These three products have become my favorite products of February to target my dryness and random breakouts.

Ole Henriksen Walnut Complexion Scrub

This honestly has to be the best scrub I’ve used. It is harsh enough to get all the dry dead skin off of my face but sensitive enough to keep my face from breaking out.

There is a slight fragrance but since the product is made with ginseng and chamomile extract, the scent is expected. I use this about two-three times a week in the shower. I use a general amount, and in a circular motion using my fingertips, I buff my face starting from my cheek into my nose, up to my forehead and back down to my chin. Your face will feel like a baby’s bottom afterwards!

Mario Badescu Skincare Drying Lotion

There are two versions of the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, the glass bottle and the plastic bottle. I personally only get the glass bottle but according to Mario Badescu, the only difference between the plastic and glass bottle is how travel friendly it is.

First things first, DO NOT SHAKE OR MIX THE BOTTLE. If you did its okay, you’ll just have to wait for the pink to separate before you can use it. Use a Q-tip to grab some of the pink sediment and tab it over your pimple. Don’t rub it, just let it dry as a blob.

I’ve never used anything or found anything else that has worked as well as this. Overnight, my pimples are gone and even the monster ones have become small enough for makeup to cover.

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Mattifying

This product I randomly stumbled on at CVS. I’ve always used a Korean product, Etude House Wonder Pore Freshener as a cleanser but I didn’t feel like it did a good job of removing my waterproof eyeliner. Plus I have combination skin so mattifying is always a selling point to me.

After washing your face, soak a cotton pad with the SkinActive Cleansing Water and wipe your face. Then proceed with eye cream and face cream. The first time you use this, you will be grossed out by how much makeup you are still taking off even after washing your face. As I’m getting older (😖 ), I need to take better care of my skin and constantly leaving makeup behind can lead to wrinkles and acne. The Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water is a great addition to my skincare regime.
